Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Welcome to the Home of the First World’s Series AND the Home of the First Professional Football Game! I’m in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and this place is awesome. If you are a sports fan like I am, this is a place you’ll have to visit someday. The Pittsburgh Steelers have won 5 Super Bowls, and are one of the original NFL teams. Their stadium ‘Heinz Field’ is named after the ketchup company, which is from Pittsburgh. They get their team name (Steelers) from what made Pittsburgh a big city – STEEL. Pretty easy to remember!
There is so much history here. Where the 3 rivers meet, there is a fort called Fort Duquesne that George Washington fought and took over twice! Initially the three rivers point controlled trade with the Indians. Eventually the rivers were used to ship out coal and steel which I guess there is a LOT of in Pennsylvania.
But besides all of that, I’ll have to say that the drive around Pennsylvania is really beautiful. There are lots of trees and what they call “rolling hills”. I didn’t notice any of the hills actually rolling, but I thought it would be really fun to come back here in the winter and go sledding!
Next stop: Austin, Texas!
