Brazil

Welcome to the largest country in South America! Here they speak Portuguese, not Spanish, which is what most people think. There are SO many things to see here I don’t even know where to begin! For starters, Brazil has 60% of the Amazon Rainforest within its borders. This jungle is enormous, mysterious, and millions of years old. There are tons of animals that live in the Amazon Rainforest and it is possible that we haven’t even found them all. I mean, there are over 2 million kinds of insects in this place! Check out this gigantic beetle!

Another amazing landmark is the statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain. It is said to be the 5th largest statue of Jesus in the world and in 2007 was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It was built almost 100 years ago as a symbol of Christianity and looks over the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Well, I’m off to go to Carnival. It is party where families, friends, neighbors, and tourists get together to dance, hear music, and watch a parade for 4 straight days. My favorite part is seeing all the colorful costumes and masks that the people wear. It is going to be so much fun!
See you soon!
