Australia
December 15th, 2011
G’day, mate! Can you guess where I am? I am in Australia and wow is it warm here! I am from the Midwest part of North America and in December it is really cold, but here in Australia it is warm. That is because Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere and their summer is opposite of mine. What that means is that in the Midwest part of North America in December it is the winter season, but here in Australia December is the summer season. That is one reason we chose to visit here in December to enjoy the warmer weather.Did you know that Australia has two roles in our world? Australia is one of our seven continents and is also a country.
I am really excited because today I get to learn how to play a didgeridoo! The didgeridoo is a musical instrument that originated from the Aboriginal people in the northern part of Australia. The didgeridoo is about 40 to 60 inches long and made from a piece of a bamboo or tree trunk that has been hallowed out by termites or other elements. It is important to know that the Aboriginal people to do not cut down healthy trees to make the didgeridoo. The sound the instrument makes is hard to describe but it kind of sounds like if you put your hand over your mouth and went “ooohhh, ahhhhh, ooohhhh, ahhhh”. I am so excited that I cannot wait to tell my friends that I know how to play a didgeridoo! Find Australia on the map so that you can hear what it actually sounds like.

After I was done with my didgeridoo lesson we headed off to Nambung National Park to see the Pinnacles. The Pinnacles are made of natural Limestone and are over 30,000 years old! Now that is really old! How amazing it is to look at, and climb on something that was left by the sea that once covered this area. The picture of The Pinnacles is at the very top.
Well, it has been a very busy day for me today and I am tired, so until next time when we meet again on my next adventure.
