The Blue HoleDo you ever wonder if there are places that have never been discovered in the world?  Well it seems that new places are discovered every day in our world. There are many places that we cannot visit because we just do not have the experience to do so and they may be dangerous.  And there are some places that I find so amazing and want to see up close and personal but have found that it is not so easy to get there, like the Blue Holes for instance.

In the Bahamas there is a location called the Blue Holes. The Blue Holes were once caves that were created by limestone and then were flooded by nature.  In order to get to these underwater caves you need to dive through this yuck of green, smelly top layer of water that smells of rotten eggs, and consists of different gases that can make you feel very sick. If you are able to get pass the first few layers you are on your way to a very unique experience.

In the caves they have found fossilized bones of animals such as crocodiles, bats, tortoises, and beetles that are older than humans.  The animals that live in this water now are being studied by scientist because in this water they live without oxygen and light. Many of the animals that live in the water are crustaceans (which means they have a hard shell to protect them), and since there is no light many, if not all, of them are blind and do not have any color to them. There have been many new animals discovered here that we never knew existed before people were able to dive and explore the area.

This seems like such an amazing adventure but I think I would be scared by it being completely dark in these caves and the only light I would have would be from the light that I would carry.  I think I am going to leave dives like this to the professionals.  Would you want to train for dives like this one?
