Sweden

DjurgardenMy family and I wanted to take a trip where we could enjoy nature and take our time doing what we love to do most, and that is spending time with one another.  Off to the airport we went to fly to Europe where we will be visiting Stockholm Archipelago Sweden.  This part of Sweden has over 25,000 islands, though only a handful of them actually have people living on them.

As with all of our trips we like to make sure that we schedule lots of activities to make sure we will see as much as we can during our visits, as well as, the most important thing and that is FUN!! Our schedule today includes hiking in a pine forest, swimming, having a picnic on a beach, and camping under the bright blue sky.

We set off for a town called Djurgarden which is located along Strandvagen in the Ostermalm. I had read about how beautiful it is here, but seeing is believing. Back home I often see blue skies and puffy white clouds and think how cool they look, but here is a whole different story.  The sky here is crystal blue with the sun shining and no airplanes flying above. I did see a great big air balloon that my sister found floating in the sky.  I would love to go on a hot air balloon ride one day. I wonder if I would be scared being that high up in the sky in a basket.

HikingIt was now time to get on our hiking shoes and hike through the forest. The trees were so huge and tall I almost felt like a little bug walking through them.  The colors of the trees were very green and another great thing about the hike was that there were some really nice hiking trails so we did not have to climb over much.  We hiked for about an hour when we reached a beach that had really cool white sand on it.  The sand was not like what I am use to, gritty and rough, it was much softer and felt neat as it slid between our toes.

Everyone was hungry when we reached the beach so we decided to have our picnic first and then go swimming after.  My sister and I were racing to see who would finish their lunch first because we really wanted to go swimming in the crystal clear water. Mom told us to slow down so we do not get a stomach ache and we would have to wait until everyone was finished before we could go in.  OH, MOM!

Swimming, hiking, and   picnicking were fun but it was getting late and we need to find a place to camp because we were all getting tired from our busy day. We packed up and hiked about another mile through the forest were we found an open spot where we could set up our tent and watch the stars in the sky. The hard part was staying awake because in the summer time in Stockholm it does not get dark until 10:00 p.m.  We all managed to stay awake and enjoy the stars for a while, but it was then time to get some rest. We have another very busy day tomorrow. I cannot wait to see more of this beautiful island.

Maybe one day you could visit here.
