United Arab Emirates

January 15th, 2010

Burj DubaiToday I am in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where I am visiting what is now the tallest building in the world.  It just opened a few days ago with a huge celebration and fireworks.  I wish I was able to see the fireworks.  The tallest building is named Burj Khalifa after the president of the United Arab Emirates. I thought the Willis Tower in Chicago was tall, but the Burj Khalifa stands 2,717 feet tall with over 200 stories.  Can you imagine swimming in the highest swimming pool?  The pool in this skyscraper is on the 143rd floor. Wow! Now that is really up high.  I wonder if it feels like you are floating in the sky.

It is pretty warm here in January (86 degrees F), so next we are off to cool off in the first place that was opened in the Middle East were you can ski indoors in the desert. I did not think to bring my snowboard but I am sure they will have one I can rent. I am excited to see what it is like to ski in the desert.

See you later!

William
