Delphi, Greece
September 9th, 2007

Hello again! In summer 2007 I traveled to Greece. There are some pretty cool buildings here. They were built in ancient times and have columns. I am standing by the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, Greece. The ancient Greeks said that this place was the belly button of the world. It is built right on the side of a huge mountain. We had to walk up to get there and it was really hot that day. There was also an ancient amphitheater and an ancient stadium too where they used to run races. I got to race my dad for fun.
While I was in Greece I ate a lot of spanakopita. It is made from spinach. But my favorite Greek food is a Bifteki Souvlaki. It’s like a hamburger in pita bread. They put a couple of French fries in it too! Yum! Greek people eat a lot of fish too. It’s pretty easy to find there because of all the water in the Mediterranean Sea.
Did you know that there are thousands of islands in Greece? That means there are beaches everywhere! So I got to go swimming almost every day, make sand castles, and just relax in the sunshine. I even took boat rides to get to different places. My mom sometimes would come into my room and wake me up in the morning by saying “Wake up William! We’re going to miss the boat!” That always made me laugh because we never say that back home.
Off to my next adventure!
