New York City, New York
November 13th, 2005

Have you ever seen the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor? It is 152 feet tall and was a gift from France to the American people on July 4, 1884. This famous landmark is considered the ultimate symbol of freedom. I couldn’t wait to check it out!
We had to take a boat to get there because it’s on an island. Ellis Island is where most of the people who came from Europe had to stop first before entering into the United States. The boat ride was short and I was getting more excited by the second. When we got there, we were able to walk inside. We didn’t get to go up to the very top, but it was cool anyway. I took lots of pictures too!

I also got to go see the Empire State Building too. It is the 2nd tallest building in the United States, and the 9th tallest in the world. You take an elevator ride up to the 86th floor where there is a balcony that goes all the way around. Up there you can the best view of New York City and all its buildings! I got to hang out there for a little while and take some pictures. You can also put a couple of quarters into this weird machine and see things up close. It’s kind of like binoculars.
Check out the Statue of Liberty picture on the William Wanders map too! ![]()
